bswift®, a leading benefits technology and HR administration company, announced a new integration for Emma™ Intelligence, giving clients the option to connect Emma's benefits expertise directly to the workplace AI assistants they already use to support employees. Now, employees can ask their company's AI assistant benefits questions and receive personalized answers informed by their actual coverage—all within the same conversation.

Powered by bswift's AI-native technology, Emma Intelligence draws on the employer's benefit plans and each employee's enrollment, claims, and eligibility information to deliver accurate, personalized benefits answers. bswift already offers clients the flexibility to integrate Emma into Microsoft Teams and Slack through an app or one-to-one chat experience.

This new integration goes a step further, giving employees a single starting point for workplace support while helping employers get more from their existing AI investments.

"Employees shouldn't have to figure out which assistant to ask when they need help at work," said Vinita Pilani, SVP of Product Engineering, bswift. "Our goal is to help their company's AI assistant answer benefits questions reliably, without sending employees somewhere else or creating more work for HR."

Designing the future of benefits support

As workplace AI becomes more sophisticated, employers are increasingly investing in their own AI assistants as a central source of information and support for employees. But there's a gap: without access to an employee's actual benefits information, even sophisticated workplace AI assistants can struggle to answer benefits questions reliably.

bswift is addressing that challenge by connecting Emma Intelligence directly to employers' existing AI assistants, giving employees personalized benefits answers without having to seek out a separate assistant.

The new capability builds on bswift's efforts to make benefits answers more accurate, personalized, and accessible. Earlier this year, bswift announced enhanced Emma capabilities, underscoring its commitment to helping employees resolve questions independently.

How it works

An employee can ask their company's AI assistant, "Which medical plan am I enrolled in?" and receive a personalized answer based on actual enrollment information. Emma Intelligence supplies the benefits expertise behind the response, while the employer's assistant maintains its familiar experience and identifies Emma™ as the source.

The integration uses Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that enables AI assistants to access information and capabilities from other services. This approach reflects a "headless" design: Emma's benefits intelligence works independently of its own chat interface, allowing employers to deliver that expertise through the employee experience they already provide.

The experience is governed by bswift's Mindful AI® framework, built around four principles: human-first design, privacy by default, transparency over shortcuts, and flexibility for the future. Existing bswift data governance and security controls remain in place, including established permissions, authentication, and authorization requirements.
